Swift Childcare Apprenticeships are excited to be recruiting for a Teaching Assistant Apprentice to join our organisation supporting with the delivery of apprenticeship training.

The successful apprentice will join our highly experience deliver team providing high-quality learning and pastoral support to our apprentices across our main aim curriculum. The Teaching Assistant will work closely with the Success and Engagement Manager (SEM) in order to support the Lecturers, Learner Support Coaches and employers to ensure that all apprentices are engaged, making good progress, and developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for their apprenticeship standard, whist meeting the learners individual learning needs.

Alongside your role you will complete the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship with Swift TA Apprenticeships. The 14 month qualification is delivered remotely and in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supporting Learning and Teaching (Ofsted: Quality of Education)
  • Support Lecturers and Learner Support Coaches (LSC) in delivering high-quality, inclusive and engaging learning sessions that meet apprenticeship standards.
  • Assist apprentices in understanding and applying knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) both in training and the workplace.
  • Provide targeted one-to-one or small group support to reinforce learning, address gaps, and build confidence.
  • Help prepare and organise learning resources, assessments and online materials for example; e-portfolios, virtual learning environments (VLE). Supporting tutors with individualised learning opportunities, including adjusted assessments.
  • Encourage effective study habits and completion of off-the-job training requirements.
  • Record learner progress accurately and provide feedback to SEM and LSC to inform planning and monitoring within Swift’s At Risk process.
  1. Learner Support and Engagement (Ofsted: Behaviour and Attitudes)
  • Promote a culture of commitment, professionalism and accountability among apprentices.
  • Alongside the SEM, work to encourage employability skills and wider soft skills; good attendance, punctuality, resiliance and positive engagement with all aspects of the programme.
  • Identify barriers to learning or progression early, supporting interventions and referrals to the SEM.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with apprentices, helping to maintain motivation and confidence throughout their apprenticeship journey.
  • Reinforce high standards of conduct and workplace behaviour, in line with employer and provider expectations.
  1. Personal and Professional Development (Ofsted: Personal Development)
  • Support apprentices in developing transferable employability and life skills such as teamwork, communication and resilience.
  • Promote British Values, equality, diversity, and inclusive practice in all learning environments.
  • Encourage apprentices to take ownership of their personal development plans and career goals.
  • Support learners to prepare for End-Point Assessment (EPA) by helping them consolidate knowledge and build confidence whilst liaising with EPA Leads.
  • Contribute to enrichment activities that enhance apprentices’ personal growth, wellbeing, and career progression.
  1. Quality, Compliance and Continuous Improvement (Ofsted: Leadership and Management)
  • Maintain accurate learner records in line with funding and compliance requirements following instruction from SEM.
  • Support delivery teams in meeting internal and external quality assurance (IQA/EQA) standards following instructions from SEM and Curriculum Managers. 
  • Participate in team meetings, standardisation sessions and continuous professional development (CPD) activities.
  • Promote and uphold Swifts safeguarding, Prevent, health and safety, and equality policies.
  • Contribute to self-assessment and quality improvement plans (QIPs) by providing feedback on learner progress and curriculum delivery to the SEM.

Essential Criteria:

  • A minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE Maths and English or Functional Skills Level 2.
  • Experience of supporting others
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with apprentices, colleagues, and employers.
  • Confident using IT systems, Microsoft and e-learning platforms
  • Committed to safeguarding, equality and diversity, and inclusive learning.
  • Organised, proactive, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Presentable, positive, professional and polite.
  • Experience of remote delivery (even as a student)

Desirable :

  • Experience supporting learners in a post-16, FE, or work-based learning environment.
  • Understanding of apprenticeship delivery, including on- and off-the-job training requirements.
  • Previous experience working within an Independent Training Provider or FE college apprenticeship team.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted requirements for apprenticeship provision.
  • Experience supporting learners with SEND or additional learning needs.
  • Understanding of functional skills in maths and English.

The position will be based in our Birmingham Jewellery Quarter centre for four days a week, with one day working remotely.

Working Hours: 8.30am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, 8.30am to 4pm Friday

Salary: £24,000.00 per year
