Just 4 weeks into their apprenticeship and our Level 2 Birmingham learners are already showing great progress! Have a read to see what they had to say about their experience with Swift so far.
So far, I’m finding my apprenticeship fulfilling as I get to work in the childcare industry like I’ve always wanted to. I work at a nursery that is quite busy so I get to meet a lot of children with a variety of different personalities and learning styles. During my first four weeks, I think my biggest accomplishment has been developing bonds with children and getting used to the routine at the nursery I’m working at.
I think anyone interested in doing a childcare apprenticeship should do it, since you’re getting a qualification along with valuable hands-on experience in a childcare setting.

My apprenticeship is going great I’m working with all ages and I’m gaining a lot of experience and I’m enjoying it. I have managed to create bonds with the children and calm them down which has been nice and an achievement of mine.
My advice for someone thinking of doing a childcare apprenticeship is just go for it you won’t regret it, especially if it’s a passion you have.

So far, I have been enjoying my apprenticeship. My work at the nursery is fun and the assignments are easy to understand, and we are supported by Demi to complete these and gain as much understanding around different topics. So far one achievement would be that I've bonded with the children at my nursery really well.
My advice is to just try your hardest and have a positive outlook on it.

I have really enjoyed my first weeks in my apprenticeship, I feel I have begun to settle into my role and I am comfortable at work and enjoying my time there. I have enjoyed being able to work and learn at the same time, as it feels like every moment I am spending in my role is beneficial for me. One thing I have achieved in my first four weeks in my apprenticeship is creating bonds with the children I work with. I feel very lucky to be in a position where I can develop real bonds with both the children and staff at my nursery.
If someone was thinking of doing a childcare apprenticeship, I would advise them to give it a go and see how you enjoy it, the staff at Swift are very helpful, particularly with making sure that you are enjoying your role. I would also say to be ready to learn and have fun, and to enjoy being in the role.

I am really enjoying my apprenticeship. I am extremely happy with joining the swift childcare apprenticeship program as it’s helping me build towards my dream job of becoming a teacher. I really look forward to the classroom days as I go home with new knowledge every week which also benefits me in my nursery job. I have also started my nursery job recently and I’m loving it. Working with children has always made me feel happy and this apprenticeship has really made me full-fill my dream of working with children. The support I am also receiving from everyone involved is really helpful. I have started to build bonds with children at the nursery I am working at. Children are starting to engage with me more and I have also helped tackle challenging behaviour.
My advice to someone who is thinking of joining an apprenticeship would be, go for it. You’ll never regret it. It is really worth it. Everything you learn is very beneficial for day to day life which is a good advantage. Working with children is also really fun!

I am finding my apprenticeship really good I like learning about different way children develop and learn and using the skills I learn at the academy in the setting. 1 thing I have achieved in the last 8 months is my understand of SEN children being in the academy and working with a SEN child had helped me understand how they are so unique and learn in different ways.
My advice for someone who is thinking of doing a childcare apprenticeship would be go for it is an amazing experience working and learning new things about children. However be prepared for the quantity of the work and always make sure your on top of it.

I like my apprenticeship so far as i get to bond with the children and get to work with key workers who teach me how to do 1-1 and other everyday activities . I liked getting the children together to do group activities such as painting and playing outside. A pe coach came in last week and i helped the kids with the courses he set out which they seemed to enjoy and so did I. I have achieved to change nappies and able to fill in the forms by myself. I got taught by another member of staff and got monitored for the first few days then was able to do it without being asked and without needing help.

I am really enjoying my apprenticeship so far, working with children while playing with them in a educational way is very enjoyable and I look forward to seeing what every day is going to bring at the nursery. I feel as though I have achieved a very warming task at my nursery. In my nursery there is a child that doesn’t feel very content as he is not around the people he is regularly and comfortable with. He often cries and doesn’t play at all. I comforted him and told him it was okay while holding him in my arms. He then began to play and tell me the different noises of animals and what they are.
My advice to someone who is thinking of doing a childcare apprenticeship is to have a positive aura and go for it!
