Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Swift ACI is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 110 tCO2e by 2029. This is a reduction of 15%.

Carbon Reduction Projects

COMPLETED CARBON REDUCTION INITIATIVES

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2023 baseline.

Swift have moved from paper-based enrolment to purely digital, which saves circa 40 sheets of paper per applicant. With approximately 500 apprentices currently on programme, this has saved 20,000 pieces of paper alone. We have also moved all apprentices to an electronic portfolio rather than a paper-based portfolio within a lever-arch file containing circa 100 pieces of paper. This has saved approximately 50,000 pieces of paper. Just from these two exercises we have saved 70,000 sheets of paper per year. The space required to store all this paper for the required number of years has also enabled us to downsize our office and off-site storage space significantly.

Since moving to the new office space, we have also mandated that staff work one to two days per week from home. This has reduced the direct and indirect costs of travel. In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  1. Reducing the number of printers in the office from three to one.
  2. Improving recycling through awareness and increased facilities.
  3. Encouraging the use of electric vehicles by installing a E.V. charging station at the office.
