Union Grove Community Nursery is a small-scale, local nursery, caring for up to 48 children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery was established in 2000 as a non-profit organisation to meet local demand for community-based affordable childcare.

To this day, the nursery continues to be community-led. They are run by an elected committee called the Management Committee made up of local people and parents. They oversee the nursery policy and practice.

The nursery operates in a modern building with spacious indoor and outdoor environment. Doors are open 7:30 am - 6:00 pm all year round, excluding weekends and bank holidays.

The nursery offers a homely, yet stimulating environment, where each child can play, socialise and develop essential skills. A place where it’s simply fun to learn.

Essential Requirements – GCSE Maths and English C or 4, or an equivalent (Functional Skills level 2)

If successful in the apprenticeship process, you may be eligible for 30% off on your Oyster Card.

The main responsibilities of this job role will include:

  • Working towards Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship.
  • Supporting the development of the childcare provision.
  • Providing an excellent range of activities that ensures that the child learns whilst having fun.
  • Being a team player.
  • Providing challenging and stimulating activities for all children
  • Taking part in First Aid training as required
  • Responsibility for equal opportunity in delivery, access and attitude in aspects of service delivery
  • Working with teams across the nursery setting
  • Supporting children’s learning and development.
  • Preparing and maintaining the environment and resources for the children.
  • Preparation of food for breakfast, snack and afternoon tea.
  • Supporting children’s self-help needs.
  • Being creative and enthusiastic.
  • Following Safeguarding rules and regulations to also meet the Standard of the Childcare Apprenticeship.
