Tom Thumb Nursery

Established in 1983, Tom Thumb nursery is purpose built on one level with outdoor play facilities. There are 3 playrooms and the layout permits constant supervision of all the children. They believe children are individuals. They talk to the children and listen to them, making them feel important and that what they say is interesting. They offer a warm caring and secure environment within which children are able to explore, learn and develop at their own pace. They ensure that the individual needs of the children are met, effectively promoting their physical, social, emotional and intellectual development. At Tom Thumb the staff are approachable and friendly, but most of all committed to the well being of each child. The children are paramount at all times.

Tom Thumb nursery is well known for its child friendly environment. We have an experienced and stable staff team, which provides consistency for the children together with good quality day care.

The main responsibilities of this job role will include:

• Working towards Level 3 Childcare Apprenticeship.
• Supporting the development of the childcare provision.
• Providing an excellent range of activities that ensures that the child learns whilst having fun.
• Being a team player.
• Providing challenging and stimulating activities for all children
• Taking part in First Aid training as required
• Responsibility for equal opportunity in delivery, access and attitude in aspects of service delivery
• Working with teams across the nursery setting
• Supporting children’s learning and development.
• Preparing and maintaining the environment and resources for the children.
• Preparation of food for breakfast, snack and afternoon tea.
• Supporting children’s self-help needs.
• Being creative and enthusiastic.
• Following Safeguarding rules and regulations to also meet the Standard of the Childcare Apprenticeship.
