Swift Early Years Assessment Centre

Bringing the right people into Early Years, in the right way.

Recruiting for a nursery is about more than finding someone to fill a vacancy. You need people who understand the importance of early childhood, share your values and have the potential to become valued members of your team.

But finding those people takes time. And when you are already managing ratios, supporting staff and delivering high quality childcare, recruitment can become another pressure on an already busy day.

The Swift Early Years Assessment Centre is designed to help.

We work with nurseries to identify potential candidates, assess their suitability for Early Years and connect them with the right training and qualification pathways. By looking beyond a CV and considering attitude, motivation, potential and readiness to learn, we help employers make more informed decisions about who could be right for their setting

with the right fit

The Right People Make All the Difference

A successful appointment is about more than qualifications or previous experience. It is about finding someone who is suited to the role, understands the responsibilities involved and is willing to learn.

The Swift Early Years Assessment Centre takes a considered approach to candidate suitability, helping you look at the qualities that matter when bringing someone into a nursery environment.

We work with you to understand your setting, your team and your recruitment needs, so potential candidates can be considered in the right context.

Whether you are looking for someone starting their career, a candidate who needs a recognised qualification or a new team member who could develop through an apprenticeship, we can help you explore the available options.

The aim is simple: to help you make better informed recruitment decisions and give new starters a clearer route into Early Years.

How the Swift Early Years Assessment Centre works

Four Steps Towards the Right Fit

1. Understand your nursery and recruitment needs

Every setting is different. We start by understanding your vacancy, the role you need to fill and the qualities that matter to your nursery.

This helps us establish what you are looking for, including the candidate’s experience, potential, attitude and training needs.

2. Assess candidate suitability

We look beyond the application to consider whether a candidate may be suited to working in Early Years.

This means considering their motivation, understanding of the role, readiness to learn and potential to develop within a nursery environment.

Assessment can help identify strengths, areas for development and any support or training that may be appropriate.

3. Identify the right route into Early Years

Not every candidate will have the same experience or qualification needs.

Some may be ready to begin an apprenticeship, while others may need to explore a different qualification route or further development.

Swift Childcare can help identify the most appropriate programme, taking account of the candidate’s circumstances, your setting’s requirements and the relevant qualification criteria.

4. Support the next step

Once a suitable route has been identified, we can help you understand the next steps, including programme requirements, eligibility and the support available to the learner.

Where an apprenticeship is appropriate, we can explain how training fits alongside employment and what is involved in supporting a new apprentice.

The result is a more considered approach to recruitment, with a clearer link between candidate suitability, training and long term development.

Find the right training route for every candidate

The Right Person. The Right Training. The Right Start.

The Assessment Centre sits alongside Swift Childcare’s wider training and qualification offer. This means we can help you consider the most appropriate route for your candidate rather than trying to fit everyone into the same programme.

Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship

A starting point for people developing the knowledge and practical skills needed to work in Early Years. It can be a suitable route for candidates who are new to the sector and need structured training alongside their employment.

Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship

For eligible candidates working towards the knowledge, skills and qualification needed to become a qualified Early Years Educator. The programme combines workplace experience with structured learning and assessment.

Level 3 Early Years Educator Diploma

For employers and individuals considering a direct qualification route rather than an apprenticeship, the Level 3 Diploma provides another option. We can help you understand whether this pathway is appropriate for the candidate and your setting.

All Swift Childcare programmes are full and relevant, subject to the applicable qualification and eligibility requirements. We can help you understand which route best meets your needs.

More than filling a vacancy

Build Capability, Not Just Headcount

Recruitment is the beginning of the journey. Once someone joins your nursery, the next priority is helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to contribute to your team.

Training can provide a clear structure for that development, helping new starters understand their responsibilities while working towards a recognised qualification.

Through Swift Childcare, employers can explore training and development options that support their wider plans for their team.

Support Learning in the Workplace

Help learners connect their training with their day to day responsibilities.

Develop Professional Skills

Build knowledge and practical capability relevant to the role and the needs of your setting.

Create Opportunities to Progress

Recognise that a new starter today may develop into an experienced practitioner, room leader or future manager.

Give People a Clearer Direction

A recognised qualification and a defined development pathway can help learners understand what they are working towards.
